Lindenmoda documentation

Everything you need to set up and run your store with Lindenmoda 1.0.0. Questions this page does not answer? Contact support.

Getting started

Lindenmoda is an editorial Shopify theme for fashion, apparel and accessories brands that sell a considered catalog. It pairs large photography with clear product information and a fast, accessible shopping flow.

Install the theme

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Find Lindenmoda in the Theme Store and click Try theme or Add theme.
  3. Click Customize to open the theme editor. Your theme stays unpublished until you click Publish.

Before you start

  • Create your menus in Content > Menus: a Main menu (up to three levels) and a Footer menu.
  • Add product photos in a consistent ratio. Portrait 4:5 photos (for example 1600 x 2000px) look best.
  • Install the free Search & Discovery app to set up filters, product recommendations and complementary products.

Colors and palettes

Lindenmoda uses color schemes. Every section has a Color scheme setting, so you can recolor one section without touching the rest.

Ready-made palettes

Go to Theme settings > Colors > Color palette and choose one of eleven palettes: Lindenmoda, Meridian, Atelier, Bloom, Volt, Harvest, Haven, Summit, Studio, Vitality and Craft. A palette recolors the first five color schemes, and with them the whole store, in one step.

Show palette picker to visitors adds a small bar at the bottom of the store where visitors can try every ready-made palette; their choice is kept only in their own browser and changes nothing in your store. Use it on preview or demo stores and keep it off for selling.

Choose Custom color schemes to set every color yourself. Each scheme has a background (or gradient), text, heading, accent, button, button label and border color.

Badges

Set the colors of the sale, sold out and product tag badges under Colors > Badges. Add a tag such as badge:New to a product to show a New badge on its card.

Typography

Choose a heading font and a body font in Theme settings > Typography. Both use Shopify's font library, so they load from Shopify's servers and stay fast.

  • Font size scale makes headings or body text larger or smaller across the store.
  • Show emphasized words in italic: in any heading, select words and press Italic in the editor. They show in italic, in the accent color of the section's color scheme.
  • Letter case sets headings, navigation and buttons to uppercase or default case.

Product page

Every element of the product page is a block you can add, remove and reorder: vendor, title, rating, price, variant picker, size guide pop-up, inventory status, quantity, buy buttons, icons with text, description, collapsible rows, complementary products, share, Custom Liquid and app blocks.

  • Swatches: set colors or images for option values in Products > Options (category metafields). The variant picker shows them as swatches.
  • Gallery layout (section setting Desktop media layout): Carousel with a row of thumbnails beside the image, Slider with thumbnails below, or Grid. The carousel has arrows, an image counter and, on phones, a swipe with a progress line.
  • Magnifier (Magnify images on hover): on computers, a sharp close-up follows the pointer over the image. It also works in quick view and in the Featured product section.
  • Full-screen viewer (Open images in a full-screen viewer): swipe or use the arrow keys between images; zoom with pinch, double-tap, the mouse wheel, the + and − buttons or keys, and drag to move around a zoomed image. Upload images at least 2000px wide so zoom stays sharp.
  • Variant images: assign an image to each variant. It moves first in the gallery when the variant is chosen.
  • Show only the selected color's media (Show only the media of the selected color): assign an image to the first variant of each color and place that color's other images right after it in the product's media. The gallery then shows only the images of the chosen color; images before the first variant image are shown for every color.
  • Media: videos, YouTube and Vimeo videos and 3D models are supported, including "View in your space" on supported phones.
  • Back in stock request (Buy buttons block, Show back in stock request): when the chosen variant is sold out, customers can leave their e-mail. It arrives as a contact message naming the product and variant, so no app is needed; you answer when the product is back.
  • Delivery estimate block: shows "Get it between …" from your own processing and shipping days, skips weekends if you choose, and can show the order cut-off time for same-day dispatch in the customer's own time zone. It is calculated from your settings only; it never counts down.
  • Size guide: create a page with your size table and choose it in the Pop-up block.
  • Pickup availability shows when local pickup is set up in Settings > Shipping and delivery.
  • Shop Pay Installments shows under the price when Shop Pay Installments is turned on.
  • Inventory status shows real stock levels for products whose inventory is tracked. Lindenmoda never shows invented stock or countdowns.
  • Gift cards can be sent to a recipient on a chosen date with a message.
  • The sticky add to cart bar appears when the main button scrolls out of view.

Collection and search pages

  • Filters come from the Search & Discovery app: availability, price, product type, vendor, variant options and more. Color filters show as swatches. On desktop they sit in a sidebar or a drawer; on mobile they open in a drawer.
  • Sorting, a switch between grid sizes, and Load more or page numbers.
  • Promotion blocks place an image tile between products on the first page.
  • The Collection banner shows the collection image and description, and a menu of collections as buttons. Full width image places the text over the image; Text beside image puts them side by side. The image is cropped to fit, never stretched: set its focal point in Content > Files to choose the part that stays in view.
  • Color swatches on product cards (Theme settings > Product cards > Show color swatches): pointing at a swatch shows that color's image, and clicking it opens the product with that color chosen.
  • Quick view opens the gallery, options and buy buttons in a pop-up without leaving the collection.

Cart

  • Cart type: drawer or page. The drawer opens when customers add a product.
  • Free shipping threshold: enter an amount to show a progress bar. It shows only when the cart is in your store's currency, so the amount is always exact.
  • Order notes, discounts, unit prices, subscriptions (selling plans) and accelerated checkout buttons are supported.
  • Product suggestions in the cart drawer come from Shopify's product recommendations.
  • The cart page shows the items beside an order summary that stays in view: free shipping progress, subtotal, order note, checkout and accelerated checkout buttons, and your payment icons (Show payment icons). Add up to four Reassurance blocks under the summary, for example secure checkout or free returns; describe only promises your store keeps.
  • The Cart recommendations section suggests related or complementary products for the first item in the cart and leaves out products already in the cart.
  • Items slide in when added and fade out when removed, and the free shipping bar fills as the cart grows.
  • When the cart is empty, the page shows ways back into the store and products from the collection chosen in Theme settings > Cart.
  • The checkout is styled in Settings > Checkout > Customize, not by the theme. To match Lindenmoda, use the colors of your first color scheme (background, text, accent and button), the same heading and body fonts as the theme, and square corners if your buttons are square.

Contact, search and other pages

  • Contact page: the Contact form section can show the page title and text beside an image, with up to four Contact detail blocks (address, opening hours, phone or e-mail, reply time). Turn on Show page title and content on the contact page template.
  • No search results and page not found: both show your Popular searches menu as buttons and products from the collection you choose in the section (Products to suggest), so customers always have a way forward.

Languages and right-to-left

Lindenmoda includes translations for English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew. Add more languages and edit any text with the free Translate & Adapt app.

Right-to-left languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu and others) are supported throughout: the layout, menus, drawers, sliders and icons mirror automatically when the store language is right-to-left.

Customers choose their country and language with the selectors in the announcement bar, the footer and the mobile menu. Set up countries and languages in Settings > Markets and Settings > Languages.

Speed and accessibility

Lindenmoda is built without libraries or frameworks. Scripts load only on the pages that need them, images are responsive and lazy-loaded below the first screen, and slideshow images load only when their slide is shown.

In Lighthouse tests on a real Shopify store, the theme scores 96–100 for performance on computers and 97–100 for accessibility on the home, collection and product pages. Phone scores change from run to run because of the scripts Shopify adds to every store; the theme's own scripts take less than 50 ms of the phone's time. Every control can be used with a keyboard, focus is always visible, and drawers and dialogs keep focus inside until they close.

Animations (Theme settings > Animations): sections and product cards rise into view as customers scroll, images react to the pointer, and large banner images move gently with the page (Move large images gently on scroll). Every animation uses only transform and opacity, content already on screen is never hidden, and all motion stops for customers who ask their device to reduce motion.

Tips: use images around 2000px wide for full-width sections, keep the number of apps low, and add alt text to your images in Content > Files.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show different products in each tab of the featured collection?

Add one Collection block per tab and choose a collection in each. Use the Tab label field to rename a tab.

Why is the free shipping bar not showing?

Enter an amount in Theme settings > Cart > Free shipping threshold. The bar is hidden when the customer's currency differs from your store currency.

How do I add swatches?

Open a product's options in the admin and set a color or image for each value. Lindenmoda shows them on product pages, product cards and in filters.

Can I change the code?

Yes. Duplicate your theme before editing code, so you can always go back. Code changes are not covered by support; for custom work we suggest hiring a Shopify Partner.

Support policy

We answer every request within two business days. Support covers installing and setting up the theme, explaining its settings, and fixing bugs in the theme. It does not cover custom code changes, third-party apps or design services.

Updates are free. To update, add the new version from the Theme Store and move your settings with Shopify's theme update tool.
